Say what you are after in a sentence. “Shorter, and easier to style” is plenty. Ask about timing and price for the work you have in mind.

Show your photo and say what you like about it. Mention the parts of your hair you are unsure about, and ask how to style it at home.

A few weeks later
Notice how it grows out and how it styles on a rushed morning. Tell your stylist next time. It makes the second appointment easier than the first.
